    Operation Thank-You

    Palwaukee Composite Squadron, a Unit of the Auxiliary of the United States Air Force, the Civil Air Patrol, based at Chicago Executive Airport launches "Operation Thank-You"

    The Palwaukee Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol announces Operation Thank You, its initiative to ship gifts from the community to troops deployed overseas. Contributions are now being accepted through Labor Day, September 1, 2008. The wish list includes: items for personal hygiene/ toiletries, non-perishable foods, books, DVD's / VHS tapes, music CD's and stuffed animals. Letters of support for the men and women deployed would also be much appreciated. All items should be in new condition and of serviceable quality.

    Your contributions can be dropped off at Chicago Executive Airport, 1020 South Plant Road, Wheeling, IL, Monday - Friday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Signature Flight Support, 1100 Milwaukee Avenue, Wheeling, IL, 24/7, or at the Squadron's facility located at 64 E. Hintz Rd, Wheeling, IL Tuesday evenings between 7-9:30 PM. Donations to offset shipping and packaging costs can also be made by writing a check payable to 'Civil Air Patrol' with 'Operation Thank You' in the memo line.

    Civil Air Patrol, the official auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force, is a nonprofit organization with more than 56,000 members nationwide. CAP performs 90 percent of continental U.S. inland search and rescue missions as tasked by the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center and was credited by the AFRCC with saving 103 lives in fiscal year 2007. Its volunteers also perform homeland security, disaster relief, and counter-drug missions at the request of federal, state and local agencies. The members play a leading role in aerospace education and serve as mentors to the nearly 22,000 young people currently participating in CAP cadet programs.
